Young Leaders Conference - 2008

Our School Captains had the wonderful experience to be part of the Young Leaders Conference.

On Wednesday 5 th March, the two school captains and two vice captains of C.H.S.S attended National Young Leaders Day, which was organized by the Halogen Foundation and held at the Brisbane Convention Centre. Over 3500 students from primary schools right across Queensland attended the event and we really enjoyed it. We learnt a lot about leadership from various speakers, including Jess Schipper (Olympic Gold Medallist in swimming), Lisa Backhouse (News presenter0, Josie Montano (author) and James Castrisson and Justin Jones (the duo who kayaked from Australia to New Zealand ). We learnt that leadership is about doing what is right to make the World a better place, being creative in solving problems, speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves, being willing to change, paying the price to do the right thing and helping a team work together. We also had a chance to mix with students from other schools and find out how they were displaying leadership. The day was a huge success and we would like to thank Mrs Carter and Mrs Allan for accompanying us on the day and providing transport.
